A Word Recipe

You read the word. Now let's make something with it.

TODAY'S WORD

map
  1. Read. Touch each letter. Say each sound. Sweep and blend: map.
  2. Make. Build map with letter tiles, paper scraps, or your own handwriting.
  3. Imagine. Draw a map to somewhere wonderful. Add a path, a surprise, or a secret place.
  4. Read again. Point to map and read it without guessing. Tell someone about your drawing.

Try another: Choose fin, cup, or mud from this lesson. Read it first, then create.

My Reading Sketchbook Today I made a... map Read it. Make it. Show it.
Grown-up note: The drawing is an invitation, not a reading test. Keep the decoding explicit: your child reads the printed word before and after creating. If they need help, model the sounds and blend together. Accuracy first, fluency second.

I read a word. I made something. I did this work.
