The Vowel Story

Bring a reading story to your school.

Letters have sounds. Sounds join together. And every child deserves a chance to discover how reading works.

Join Ms. Ashley, a New Orleans reading specialist and author of The Vowel Story, for a 30–35 minute interactive literacy visit, available in person in New Orleans or virtually. Children hear the story, think about vowel sounds, and take part in interactive word and sound activities.

What a visit can include

An interactive read-aloud from The Vowel Story, visual storytelling with gentle participation, guided literacy conversation, and time for student questions and reflection. Teachers may introduce vowels or word building ahead of time, but no required video or preparation is needed.

Designed for Pre-K through Grade 2, early learning programs, libraries, and community spaces. Groups work best when students are at similar developmental stages. Schools may share an optional book order form approximately one week ahead of the visit. Signed copies are $20 each, sales tax included, with arrangements confirmed before the visit.
