1. Adult-managed family accounts
RPA memberships and accounts are intended to be created and managed by a parent, guardian, teacher, or other adult. Children use learning tools through that adult-managed account and should not create an account on their own.
2. Information connected to a child
- An optional first name entered by the family on the Library dashboard.
- A selected reading stage.
- Activity completion marks and simple preferences.
- Reading Check answers used in the browser to create a stage result.
The dashboard name, stage, and completion information are stored in the browser on the family’s device whenever possible, rather than in an RPA child profile.
3. What we do not ask children for
- Email address, phone number, home address, or date of birth.
- Photographs, voice recordings, precise location, or biometric information.
- School records, health information, or government identification.
- Open social profiles, public posts, direct messages, or contact with strangers.
4. The Reading Check
The Reading Check is designed for a grown-up to complete about a child. Answers are used in the browser to form a reading-stage result. If the grown-up chooses email delivery, RPA sends the adult’s email address, optional first name, and resulting reading stage to Flodesk. The grown-up may skip email and view the result on screen.
5. Analytics and advertising
RPA does not load Google Analytics on child-facing lesson and practice pages. RPA does not show children behavioral advertising, sell children’s information, or create commercial profiles from reading activity.
6. Parent and guardian rights
A parent or guardian may ask whether RPA holds personal information about their child, request access or correction, withdraw permission, or request deletion. Email msashleyreadingcoach@gmail.com. We may take reasonable steps to verify that the requester is the child’s parent or guardian.
7. Children under 13
RPA is designed for family-directed educational use. We do not knowingly invite a child under 13 to submit personal information directly. If we learn that personal information was collected directly from a child without appropriate parental involvement, we will delete it or seek the required permission.
