Read. Play. Atelier. was created by Ashley Testerman, M.Ed. Ashley is a reading specialist with 19 years of real students. She founded Ms. Ashley Reading Coach and built Read. Play. Atelier. to bring literacy support to families everywhere. Not just in New Orleans. Everywhere.
How is Read. Play. Atelier. different from a worksheet site?
Read. Play. Atelier. is not a worksheet site. It is built around story, play, and the Science of Reading. Tools are interactive and designed for specific skills. Resources are organized by what a child can actually do right now. Not by grade. Not by subject. The goal is always one clear next step.

Yes. Free tools include Sound Spotter, Word Decoder, and Sight Word Spotter. The Reading Studio Library is a paid membership with guided lessons, printables, and tools organized by reading stage. Decodable books and digital products are in the shop. There is something here for every stage.

Who is Ms. Ashley Reading Coach?
Ms. Ashley Reading Coach is the professional brand of Ashley Testerman, M.Ed. Ashley is a reading specialist based in New Orleans, Louisiana. She holds a master's degree in Reading Education and has worked with real students for over 19 years. She supports families locally and online through coaching, digital tools, and decodable books.
How do I work with Ms. Ashley?
Start with the Free Reading Check. That gives you a clear picture of where your child is and what to do next. From there, families can book a one-on-one coaching session via Zoom or in person in New Orleans. Older students can enroll in Student Smart Skills. The Reading Studio Library is there for families who want to work at home between sessions.

Read. Play. Atelier. supports children from preschool through middle school. The four reading stages span roughly ages 3 through 14: Pre-Reader, Beginning and Emerging Reader, Reading to Learn, and Advanced Reader. Stages are based on reading skill, not grade level. Children are placed where they actually are. Not where someone expects them to be.

Four stages. Each one built on what a child can actually do right now. Stage 1: Pre-Reader, for children building their first sound and letter awareness. Stage 2: Beginning and Emerging Reader, for children cracking the code of phonics and decoding. Stage 3: Reading to Learn, for children ready to read with meaning and fluency. Stage 4: Advanced Reader, for older students building comprehension, writing, and independence.
